Installing SHOUTcast – Client Side

In the last tutorial we covered the installation for the SHOUTcast Distributed Network Audio Software (DNAS) for the server side. Now we will cover the SHOUTcast installation for the client side.

This tutorial will only cover the installation of SHOUTcast on the server side. Below are more tutorials that you might be interested in:

To set up your SHOUTcast for broadcasting you will need Winamp and the SHOUTcast Radio DSP plug-in for Winamp.

Installation for Windows

While Winamp is not open, install SHOUTcast Radio DSP plug-in.

After installing the plug-in start Winamp and open Preference (CTRL-P) and select DSP/Effects subcategory under the Plug-ins tree. Then click on Nullsoft SHOUTcast Source DSP v1.9.1 as shown below:

After you click that a new window will appear.

You need to fill in the information then you can start broadcasting. “Address” is the address of your SHOUTcast DNAS. “Port” is the given port the SHOUTcast DNAS server is utilizing.

Next click on Yellowpages and fill in your SHOUTcast information. This information can be shown on websites by using tags.

After filling in the information click on connect and it should start broadcasting whatever you are playing on Winamp.
