Q: But how is that possible?
A: Gravatar recognizes and binds an image to your email address

Q: Will my Gravatar appear if I made a comment prior to creating the Gravatar?
A: Yes it will

Q: How do I create a Gravatar?!
A: Read on!

First of all you need to register an account with Gravatar. To do that go to www.gravatar.com. Once you have registered an account you will need to have a picture ready. You can upload any image of any size and you can crop that image from Gravatar.com. However, I noticed if you uploaded a picture that is big, it will take some time before the picture loads. So you might want to make the picture smaller before uploading.

Once you have your the image(s) binded to the email, your future and past comments using that email will display the image that you set.

I have set up quite a bit of PsyBNC’s for people around the world and I always get the question “How do I set it up with my mIRC”. I’m so tired of repeating myself and of course some times there’s that one or two that doesn’t understand English. So I’ve decided to make a graphical tutorial that everybody can understand.

When you rent a PsyBNC your hoster will give you 4 things and they are:

1. Ident to login to your PsyBNC.
2. Password that you will use to identify your Ident.
3. PsyBNC server to connect to.
4. PsyBNC port to connect to.

Once you get all that information run your mIRC and do the following:

Press ALT+O to open mIRC Options

Click on the “Add” button and add the server(s) with the information given by your hoster.

Next enter your Ident.

Then fill in your nickname and all that.

Click on connect and you should be connected to your PsyBNC. Then you need to specify your VHOST and your IRC SERVER. Do the following:

/bvhost THE.VHOST.THAT.U.WANT.TO.USE
/addserver irc.dal.net
/jump

And you are done. In a few seconds you will be connected to your IRC server. The next time you login to PsyBNC you don’t have to redo all those steps. Just open mIRC and click on connect and it will automatically log you on.

Some simple PsyBNC commands to get you started as an admin:

If you want to add users type:

/adduser ident :username

Example:

/adduser zero :www.SETUIX.com

To change your password type:

/password newpass

Example:

/password abc123

To change a password of a user (admin command) type:

/password ident :newpass

Example:

/password zero :abc123

In the last tutorial we covered the installation for the SHOUTcast Distributed Network Audio Software (DNAS) for the server side. Now we will cover the SHOUTcast installation for the client side.

To set up your SHOUTcast for broadcasting you will need Winamp and the SHOUTcast Radio DSP plug-in for Winamp.

Installation for Windows

While Winamp is not open, install SHOUTcast Radio DSP plug-in.

After installing the plug-in start Winamp and open Preference (CTRL-P) and select DSP/Effects subcategory under the Plug-ins tree. Then click on Nullsoft SHOUTcast Source DSP v1.9.1 as shown below:

After you click that a new window will appear.

You need to fill in the information then you can start broadcasting. “Address” is the address of your SHOUTcast DNAS. “Port” is the given port the SHOUTcast DNAS server is utilizing.

Next click on Yellowpages and fill in your SHOUTcast information. This information can be shown on websites by using tags.

After filling in the information click on connect and it should start broadcasting whatever you are playing on Winamp.

Yesterday I had to install a SHOUTcast server for a customer. The installation wouldn’t take more than 15 minutes if it was the first time installing. If you have installed it before it would take you less than 5 minutes because you can just re-use the config file.

There isn’t really much to write about installing SHOUTcast on the server side because this is by far the easiest and fastest installation I have done so far. Before we begin you need to download the SHOUTcast Distributed Network Audio Software (DNAS) that is suitable for your operating system. Supported systems are:

• Window 95,98,ME,NT/2000/XP/2003
• FreeBSD 5.x server
• FreeBSD 4.x server
• Linux server with glibc6. Will not work on older glibc5 kernels.
• Mac OS X server (Mac OS X 10.3+ / Mac OS X Server 2 10.3+

In this tutorial the SHOUTcast DNAS was installed without any problems on FreeBSD 7.2 using the FreeBSD 5.x server. To download the appropriate servers click below:

Installation for Windows users

1. Extract the downloaded file into a folder anywhere on your computer. Example C:\Program Files\SHOUTcast
2. Create a shortcut for sc_serv.exe on the Desktop. To do that right click on sc_serv.exe and select send to Desktop.
3. Run sc_serv.exe and click on “Edit Config” menu.
4. After editing the config file, save and close the editor then close and restart the SHOUTcast Radio DNAS application.

Installation for Linux and FreeBSD users

1. For terminal users download SHOUTcast DNAS with wget.
2. Create a directory called SHOUTcast and place the downloaded file inside.
3. Run: [zero@matrix { ~/SHOUTcast }] tar –zxvf <SHOUTcast DNAS filename>
4. Edit sc_serv.conf with your favourite text editor.
5. To run sc_serv in the background type: [zero@matrix { ~/SHOUTcast }] ./sc_serv &

And that is the end of the installation for the server side. The next time you install the SHOUTcast DNAS you can reuse the config file and make slight changes where applicable.
